Windows Xp Not Shutting Down Completely
My problem wasn't with shutdown, it was haning with logout. I was searching for a solution with the same keywords again and it brought me back to my own post here, which I had completely forgotten about, and your answer! The screen keeps on saying "Windows is now shutting down..." but it never completely turns off. It could help to have your motherboard manual for this. Source
