Why can't they fix it? I have another board now and the screensaver works wonderfully well. I changed it to 'Disabled'Perhaps this is solely a Microsoft problem that cannot be fixed by the end user. I already know how to access the screen saver settings and the change power plan settings (please refer to my attached screenshot). I wonder how it got set to 0. The "Change Screen Saver Settings" window will appear. Check This Out If I unplugged my wireless mouse and keyboard, then these options worked.
I set my screensaver for 1 minute and unplugged one USB device at a time (every minute) until the screensaver started working. It takes just 2 minutes to sign up (and it's free!). Now click on Change advanced power settings on the next screen. Look for the "Aero Themes" heading and select the "Windows 7" theme.

Research shows that I need to delete a couple registry keys, but neither of them currently exist. Also, if your mouse pad is dirty (with hair or lint) then this can also cause the mouse to go 'haywire'.
Did you install the latest drivers for your mouse/keyboard from: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/downloads Can't you find any clue in the energy report?
