Computer Spontaneously Shuts Off
The problem occurs irrespective of the OS I've booted to. I'm having the same problem on my asus since getting a new battery replaced recently. By shut down, I don't mean that it goes through the normal shut down process for Windows. Then try it again on battery power only. So I went all out and bought a Lenovo - had it for 2 months now - and WOW!!!! I got it corrected.

Another (maybe) related problem which i have been facing for a longer time is that my computer cannot be shutdown. My Asus is still under guarantee but I wont let run of the mill tech monkeys anywhere near it, thats just me. (I cant use a desktop pc at home as Now, it goes to sleep with around 10% battery still remaining instead of 22 %. Computer Shuts Down Unexpectedly I got it corrected.

I bought this to game online and it is not fun when it just goes kaput. See if there's any log entries about why the box shuts down. I didn't get it looked at because it said it was doing updates so I thought that was why. Computer Suddenly Turns Off And Wont Turn Back On My laptop would die when it was around 40% I think even though I calibrated it many times. Cheaper computers include smaller capacitors, so the computer turns off without warning during brownouts.

I assume this discharges any errant electrons that might be pulling a gremlin on it. It's only when I plug it in that the laptop has successfully powered on every time. Instead of getting a new battery, I may switch to a Lenovo; I see many colleagues at my workplace using this brand and no one's been complaining about it. If keeping that power supply in there, then you need to find the trigger. Or only after running a program or game ?

If you have not recently installed any new hardware into the computer, the next best solution is to systematically remove non-essential hardware.
does anyone have a circuit diagram :-) ? One last thing you can do is reinstall Windows and start from scratch as it might be malware or a virus that has done it. It seems like if I pick it up slow it won't shut off. Before opening your case, be aware of the dangers of ESD.
