The experiment I'm suggesting is that combofix (and what other tools you are using) may be tricked a little by running in a VM environment rather on/in a physical machine. Click here it's easy and free. I downloaded what I thought to be a pdf file in an .exe archive and was stupid enough to run it. I have already had Combo Fix downloaded and saved to a computer and attached the external hard drive to that computer, Combo Fix will only scan the C drive, so like unable to "Anniversary"... and then run hijack and avg.... Try disconnecting the HD and then try booting from the CD as the CD should then be the first (and maybe only) bootable device.
